advent, black lives, and 25 days of changing the narrative – day #5
this journey is a BEAST! i’m realizing in the process just how quickly relationships and lives evolve over time. in a culture that’s so transient, i’m beginning to cherish friends and community in every season of life. this couple/family is one of them.
day 5 – december 4
pastor george and latondra gregory
tondra and george are dear friends we met almost 15 years ago in durham, nc. tondra and i would share many stories, meals and long conversations about kids, marriage, and life in ministry. this sista is FIRE! – i remember her going to graduate school to earn her marriage counseling degree while raising two kids and supporting/helping george in ministry. F-I-R-E!!!
george and i were on staff together for several years at a local church in durham. i’m so grateful to have served alongside him. he was an advocate and a sounding board in so many ways throughout my time there. over the years, my oldest son, caleb, became good friends with their son, jalen, whom he always looked up to. it truly was a sad day for us when they eventually moved away to new york some years later.
they now pastor a church in new york city and also spearhead a marriage ministry called journey for life. love this family and so grateful for their friendship.
