advent, black lives, and 25 days of changing the narrative – day #4
this next person inspires me. as a worship leader and pastor for many years, i’ve grown to love and respect seasoned and emerging leaders who embody their call with great passion and gifting. this brother right here…
day 4 – december 3
jon is a worship pastor and creative leader. i first met him when he came to the church where i served as the worship pastor for many years. our church hosted an annual conference called campus harvest that drew thousands of young college students from across the country. he helped lead these students for several years as the worship and creative director of the conference. jon embodies worship. it just oozes out of him!
a couple years after i had stepped down to attend seminary, jon ended up serving as the worship pastor for the church, which i was thrilled about. he is a husband to kelley and dad to 4 sons and 1 daughter (RIP), who lived a brief but beautifully impactful life here on earth.
i guess what i love and what inspires me most about jon is his humility, worshipful presence, amazing song writing skills, and his love and passion for god. through the darkest of valleys to the brightest moments in life, this brother b-r-e-a-t-h-e-s worship! his newest album, written with his wife, emerged from the space of mourning the loss of their daughter. you can check it out here. more people probably know jon by his song bless the lord/son of man – now widespread by tye tribbet’s cover of it.
he’s certainly a gift in my journey and i’m so blessed by his life and ministry!
